To ensure optimal protection and lasting comfort, it is essential to choose a set of leg boots and hind fetlock boots suited to your horse’s morphology.

The leg boots should properly cover the tendons without extending onto the knee or fetlock, in order to preserve the horse’s natural range of movement. The hind fetlock boots should be positioned by sliding them downwards from the top until they naturally fit around the fetlock. The protective shell should be positioned at the back of the leg, with the fasteners facing outwards.

Thanks to their self-moulding design, the shells naturally adapt to the shape of the horse’s legs for a precise fit. Make sure the boots are properly centred and sit close against the legs without creating pressure points. The fasteners should be tightened firmly but comfortably to ensure optimal support, without rotation or slipping during exercise.

Once the boots are fitted, walk your horse a few steps to check that they remain perfectly in position. After the session, check for any marks, rubbing or areas of heat, which could indicate that an adjustment is needed.

• How to slide them into position correctly
Open the hind fetlock boot and place it slightly above the fetlock. Then gently slide it downwards until it naturally fits around the fetlock. This downward movement allows the hind fetlock boot to follow the shape of the leg without catching the hair or creating folds.

• Final adjustment
Once in place:
- the hind fetlock boot should be correctly centred,
- the shells or reinforcements should be positioned at the back of the fetlock,
- the fastenings (hook-and-loop or buttons) should face outwards and be closed without excessive tension.
It should remain securely in place without compressing the leg or slipping down during exercise.
