Detangling a horse's tail is a delicate task that must be carried out systematically to preserve the hair and the horse's comfort. Good technique prevents breakage and tension at the base of the tail.

• The twist: an essential step

Start by gently twisting the tail, without tightening. This twist groups the hairs together and limits tension on the skin, a sensitive area for the horse.
The twist should remain loose and natural, never tight.

• The correct brushing method

Hold the twist with one hand to prevent tension.
Brush only the ends with the other hand.
Once the ends are detangled, slightly untwist for a few centimeters.
Resume brushing the ends of this new section.
Repeat the process, working your way up gradually to the root, without ever pulling.
