The reins must be adapted to the size of the bit and the morphology of the horse's mouth.
Reins that are too short can create an overly direct and uncomfortable action, while reins that are too long lack precision.
Once in place, the reins should rest naturally, without pulling up or down when the reins are at rest.
The correct fitting allows for a progressive action, without excessive pressure points, and allows the horse to remain relaxed and mobile in its mouth.
If the bit moves excessively or if the horse's mouth shows signs of discomfort, the adjustment must be reviewed.

The reins' connectors must always be oriented outwards to avoid any discomfort or rubbing. The reins should remain free, untwisted, and naturally follow the line of the bit. The reins should act without permanent tension; if the connectors are constantly engaged, it means either the action is too strong or the adjustment is inappropriate. The connectors should never amplify the effect of the bit, but rather make it softer and more stable.
