Bell boots are designed to protect the pasterns and heels from injury, especially in horses that interfere or pull off shoes. To be effective, they must be properly fitted: neither too big nor too tight.

• Choosing the right size
The bell boot must completely cover the pasterns without dragging excessively on the ground.
Too short: insufficient protection.
Too long: it can hinder movement, wear out prematurely, or cause rubbing.
The bell boot should just brush the ground when the foot is placed, without bending or flipping over.

• Correct positioning
Once in place, the bell boot must be well-centered around the foot, without rotating. The bottom should surround the hoof evenly, and the upper part should not compress the pastern. Bell boots are generally worn with the Velcro on the outside, to prevent rubbing and limit the risk of accidental opening.

• Adjustment and fastening
The Velcro should be fastened firmly but not excessively. The bell boot must stay in place without creating continuous pressure. Over-tightening can cause overheating, irritation, or swelling, while insufficient tightening promotes rotation or loss of the bell boot.

• Checks after work
After the session, remove the bell boots and check for any marks or signs of overheating. Any sign of discomfort indicates poor fitting or an unsuitable model.

The size of your bell boots depends primarily on the size and build of your horse. We generally recommend:
- S: Ponies B, C
- M: Ponies D, Thoroughbreds
- L: Horses, Thoroughbreds
- XL: Horses and large horses
